Kerala’s food scene is as diverse as its geography. From the seafood-heavy coastal kitchens of Kochi and Kozhikode to the spice-laden hill station fare of Munnar and Wayanad, and the toddy shops lining the backwaters of Alleppey and Kumarakom, no two regions eat quite the same way.
- Kerala Sadya – a grand meal served on a banana leaf with multiple items
- Porotta and beef curry
- Puttu and kadala curry – chickpea curry with steamed rice flour cylinders, usually for breakfast
- Appam and stew – rice pancakes with coconut, paired with creamy stews
- Malabar biryani – should not need an introduction
- Karimeen pollichathu and Kerala fish curry – especially in coastal areas
